I'm HORRIBLE blogger...

I've been sooo bad at this blogging, I mean look the last thing that I wrote about was our Christmas trip to Disneyland and boy have things changed quite a bit. At that time Duane and I already knew that little Connor Jax was on his way and were beyond excited. He’s here now and so much has happened from Christmas time until now and I can’t believe I haven’t taken the time to write it all down but now looking at Connor and Savanna and seeing how quickly it all goes by I want to have something to look back on all the fun things that happen in my life. So here’s just a little of what I missed.

On New Years Eve Duane, Savanna and I went to Big Bear with the Coppes family to celebrate. It was a great time! What made it even better was the phone call I received from my realtor that our offer was accepted on a tiny but adorable condo in Stanton, Ca. Now it was official we had a home to call our own. What a great way to say good-bye to one year and hello to the next! We moved in on Valentines Day weekend and spent our first night in our new home waiting on couches to be delivered…. They didn’t come until 1am and we ended up sleeping on the floor eating take out!! It was a perfect holiday!

With my pregnancy things were running smoothly with only a few bumps here and there. I can definitely say that I loved the early part of pregnancy, the latter not so much. But at 19 weeks pregnant we found out that the newest love of my life was going to be a little boy. It was great news! Duane practically shot out of his chair with excitement as he said “I did it!!” He was thrilled he had his boy!

In March we added yet another member to the family, a puppy pug we named Belle. At Duane’s Grandmothers 80th birthday we met his cousin Jamie’s Pug Cindy. She was the sweetest thing and Duane and I both being animal lovers couldn’t stop talking about how nice it would be to have a pet so after looking online Duane found a man selling pugs at a decent price and they looked adorable. After a long and some what weird drive out to the Coachella Valley Duane came home with our sweet Belle. Who now can drive me crazy but I love her to pieces. She was by my side every night when I just couldn’t sleep in bed anymore being the size of a house. She cuddled with me every night on the couch until Connor was born.

April of this year brought Easter, our first real holiday in our new home. We dyed eggs with Savanna and had an Easter egg hunt. It was a great time and a memory I will never forget.

In May and June I had three wonderful baby showers thrown for me, one by my mom, one by four of my amazing girlfriends and one by my great co-workers. I never realized how many people I have in my life that care and love me. Being at these showers, spending time with people in my life made me realize how loved and blessed I am. Connor is so lucky to have so many people in his life that already love him before he’s even arrived.

June also brought Savanna’s 3rd birthday. Here is where I feel like a horrible mom/girlfriend/stepmom (what ever my title is). We forgot the camera!! How do you forget the camera?!?!?! As we were heading to Duane’s parents house it was like….Presents, check! Party favors, check! Kid, check! Dog, check! Camera,……. Nada! Even without the pictures it was a wonderful time. She and cousin Breann played with balloons and blowers. We ate dinner and enjoyed cake and opened a ton of presents. I can’t believe that she’s already three. Where does the time go? I can’t believe that the little baby I first met is now a big girl. She’s amazingly funny and smart and very loveable. She’s definitely going to be an amazing woman when she get older and I feel so blessed that I get to share in it and watch her grow.

July brought one of the biggest changes in my life. On Wednesday July 8, 2009 Duane and I met with Dr. Muth to discuss Connor and what he felt was the best option for his birth. In an ultra sound taken the day before they felt by looking at his measurements that he was going to weigh around 9 pounds 15 ounces with a head circumference of 10 centimeters. Adding that to my issue with bleeding and the fact that my platelets were down to 44,000 Dr. Muth, whom I trust completely said that he felt the best option would be a cesarean under general anesthesia. To be honest this scared the crap out of me. As he was describing this to me I began to cry. He said that I was going to have to be put out completely, see when you have low platelets an anesthologist will not give you an epidural because blood can get into the spinal cord and leave you paralyzed. Because you are going under general anesthesia they have to move fast so that it doesn’t reach the baby so even Duane couldn’t be in the room with me. When I heard that I lost it but I knew we had to do what was best and safest for our little guy. So on Thursday July 9th I checked into Long Beach Memorial Hospital to receive an IV of some meds that I needed to help with the bleeding issue and on Friday, July 10th my sweet little boy came into the world a weighing a whopping 10 pounds 2 ounces and was 21 ½ inches long. He had to spend his time at the hospital in the NICU which at times was very difficult, especially not being able to hold the first day of his life but I knew he was in the care of the very best. It was a long stay in the hospital that now feels so far behind us and on Tuesday July 14th Duane and I took our little guy home.

On Friday of that week Savanna Banana came over and met her little brother for the first time. She was so sweet with him and I will never forget the look on her face when she walked through the door of our home. She gasped and in this sweet tiny voice said “Oh my gosh, my brother.” She loved him and petted his face sweetly as I was feeding him. She was absolutely amazing with him, she is going to be an incredible big sister.

My first few days at home with Connor have been great, we’ve had some long nights and some not so long nights and I think that is pretty common at this point all in all I feel blessed to have such a good baby. On Monday we took Connor for his first professional pictures for his announcements. He did an amazing job and was so good for the photographer. We of course did some naked pictures and some in a baseball outfit. He of course looked adorable in everyone! Oh and Monday was when his umbilical cord fell off and Tuesday his little circumcision ring fell off too!!

So much has changed and I love this new life. Connor and I are still trying to figure it all out but I tell him “Hey you’re new at this baby thing, I’m new at this mommy thing and we’ll figure it out together.”
